Hey, I've just spent the morning riding around the North Lakes. The wife sent me out for some milk, the papers and a sack of potatoes and I somehow managed to turn my little errand into a nice run - funny how that keeps happening. Anyway, the temperature was mostly about 2 or 3 degrees C but, as the roads were dry, I felt quite happy to lean pretty hard on the corners on the return spell. Aside from having to chastise some rectal sphincter of a man at the local farmers' market for fiddling with my bonnie (being in a good mood, I only twisted his arm and shoved him away, rather than administering a proper hiding), it was a great morning's blatt and I didn't even need to wash the bike down afterwards.
Just as I was putting the bonnie into the workshop it started to rain. I went inside to find that my other half had lit a good roaring fire in the living-room hearth and had made me a platter of fresh bacon and egg butties and a pint mug of steaming hot tea. I sat warming myself through by the fire and tucked into my fare whilst looking out of the window at the miserable weather closing in outside - and I didn't mind a bit.
Sometimes, but not often, I quite like the winter.
