You really only need to change the clutch plates when the friction plates are worn so thin that the clutch starts slipping, or, depending on how much abuse it gets, if the clutch plates get glazed or warped.
Mileage is no indication, there are too many variables. I have had bikes with 80k on the clock, still on the orignal clutch.
The few times that I have had to replace clutches in the past, I have used EBC. Mainly because they are readily available and cheaper than OEM.
