I don't think it's a motor thing, I think that these engines will begin to increase horse power/torque as the miles get a bit higher. Mine has 3500. Most on the site mention a steady increase in overall power through at least the first 10k.
BTW my peak torque was 68ftlbs and was basically a flat line through out the roll ons. Pretty consistant too. Top speed was 137.
