Well I had mine between 24k & 32k miles. I stripped the carbs (Keihin) twice to (eventually) find a small spilt in one diaphragm.
Other than the slit they showed very little wear, no leaks & synchronised on vacuum guage very precisely. IMHO there were no signs of needing a carb service. WHy do you think yours does?
