Please, allow me to tell you how to spend your money.......
I believe your best value can be found in the purchase of a Ventura Rack system. By mounting a pair of discrete 'L' shaped brackets to your bike, you can choose to run.......
1) Nothing
2) A grab rail
3) Luggage rack with a short rise for a *passenger pad
4) Luggage rack with a tall rise for carrying the Ventura luggage (a WIDE variety to choose from).
5) Choose to hover the luggage rack (and luggage) over the passenger seat for a more centralized mass.
6) Choose to rest the Ventura luggage on the passenger seat (while attaching it to the rack), and put your tent on the luggage rack hovering over the rear wheel.
Now THIS is where I have to insert a very important disclaimer, simply because I don't want to suggest something that Ventura may be advising against:
I noticed that Ventura said that the taller rack on the luggage carrier system NOT be used for a passenger to lean against! And judging from the set-up, I would tend to agree.
- However -
Though for liability reasons, Ventura would still insist that it was ill-advised to use the shorter rack for a passenger to lean against...... if you put your own pad on there, it may be perfect as a butt stop for your passenger's lower-back/butt.
Something to consider.
:-D
