Philip,

Ahhhhh....from the content of your post, I'm guessing that you're using "TBS" as an abbreviation for the Speedmaster. That's incorrect as "TBS" is the commonly accepted abbreviation for the Thunderbird Sport, as any of the members in the "Hinkley Classics" forum will tell you!

In this case, it's confusing as a TBS does require metric mirror adapters but the America/Speedmasters do not require any type of mirror adapter at all. Totally different bike models!

The America/SM mirrors are mounted with a simple bolt thru a smooth hole in each control housing. No threads of any kind, metric or American! This makes finding aftermarket mirrors for these bikes insanely simple. Any mirror mounting with a threaded stud or a bolt will work just fine. The worst that can happen is that you might have to shorten the stud with a hacksaw or go to your local hardware store and buy a slightly longer bolt.

For some reason, this question keeps cropping up on the America/SM and Rocket III (same set-up) forums with questions about "what adapter do I need?". Answer: NONE! Just unbolt one of your mirrors and you'll see what I mean.

Cogito ergo equito

Bob
