Bryan, that's a very nice job. I have the same setup on the BMW K75, so the screw/spring combination is available at BMW dealers for about $20. It's been on now for about 80,000 miles without trouble. It also has a little plastic tip to keep from hurting the housing.
Some people use an o'ring between the edge of the housing and the inner end of the grip. Works about the same. Gives enough tension to let you relax the hand and not enough resistance to interfere with deceleration.
