Could be you've got a short somewhere near the fuses - poss rodent damage - I know I had some of the loom nibbled by mice on a bike I had laid up in the garage.
It could be a duff battery - see if your local shop will lend you a charged one or test yours for you. Look for 12-12.5v static, down to maybe 10-10.5v starting and up to 14.5v running/charging.
