Wow... That's about the most ultimate poor-boy solution I have ever seen. I have a bag of O-rings, out in the garage; I'm sure one will fit. They're black, and aren't going to be as classy as your CAT-yellow one, but I can always just sort of cover it up with my hand, when I pull up at a stoplight. That'll get me by, until I can find a supplier with red or blue ones... Maybe silver... I don't know; you think the O-ring should match the bike, or stand out on it's own, like yours does?
In any event, that's a simple, brilliant accessory. I don't know why nobody I know ever thought of that, before. It's cheap, unobtrusive, and it works. One to put into practice, and remember for the future.
