So your saying I might not even need points since these still make a spark and that's all they have to do. If I just sand them and re set them I can move on to the carb as the source of the problem. The problem being the left cylinder is fouling up the plug with black fuzzy dry carbon. In about 5 miles it doesn't function. I was thinking if the plug wasn't firing every time it could cause this. It seems to miss every other time while idling. With clean new plugs , it runs well once under way.
I have adjusted both carbs the same for idle and air jet. So I'm thinking maybe they are jetted differently. This bike has pea shooter pipes with no baffles so that would make it run rich. But why just one side and not both ?
Next step: take the bowls off and spray carb cleaner up in there ( mikunies) Maybe take the pilot jet out and clean it. see that they are both the same size.
