I had the opportunity to ride a Rocket with both the CAT box removed and the Triumph TOR conversion, I liked the throaty sound but it was a bit too loud for my tastes long-term.

I’m thinking that just going with the CAT box bypass might put me somewhere in the middle sound wise…anyone have just the bypass? Do you like it? Does it give the throaty sound this monster deserves without making your ears bleed on long highway trips?
Yup that's what I have for same reason. Don at Baxter (not only one of the best Triumph mechanics this side of the pond but also one of the nicest) even let me listen to it with part TOR/stock. He said some people like that setup but to me it sounded like an old VW trike with a couple of plugs fouled. Yech.

So I went catless-only which definitely gives it nice lil' growl compared to the pure stock system (which sounds about a racy as a Toyota minivan). It is a sedate growl though, it will not offend. For those who gauge a good exhaust by the number of middle fingers extended and car alarms set off, it will not be enough.
