I am not sure if you would like the looks but my personal favorite is the Ventura pack system it combines a soft luggage system with a tail rack. I use mine when I do long road trips on my speed triple (96), I use two of the large bags one facing forward and the other hanging on the tail rack giving more than enough clothes for a long road trip, here is a link to the sight

as I said I love mine it has lasted for years and the big thing that sold me was that on t300 series triumph the side panels stick out beyond the seat and my first set of soft luggage scratched up the side panels, I believe Hinkley has expressed the same problem on some of his postings in the past. Also when I go into the hotel for the night I can loosen two thumb screws and remove the whole tail rack leaving only the side brackets on when you go out for dinner. also I have not had water problems like you might think, even in pouring down rain on a trip thru Boston.
