I blame it on a newspaper article....

Years ago Ann Landers or Dear Abby (can't remember which) had an article where she basically replied to a guy whose bike was scratched by a "dry rider" that it was HIS fault. She put in a nationally syndicated article which said that if you choose to ride a motorcycle you have to put up with people sitting on your bike. She said to deal with it and if someone got hurt on your bike that they should sue YOU for leaving such a dangerous piece of machinery out! Not once did she recommend that people respect other peoples property.

This happened in the late 80's and got all kinds of press coverage and responses. She never retracted that statement. Some people feel its normal and ok to sit on your bike as a result of the article.

Me, I am more than happy to scrub the melted skin off the pipes as many times as it takes for the idiots to learn not to sit on my bikes. (My wife managed to burn herself getting off the first time. Yes I warned her ahead of time...)
