I think Zore hit it on the head, the Genmar's change the rider position just enough to make the bike somewhat sluggish going into corners. Long distance on the highway, their fantastic. Ive taken mine off after getting a corbin saddle which seemed to place me a little higher on the bike, and havent seen the need to put them back on.
katrider, you should be able to pick up a set of used genmars for around $70. so it might be worth a try. You can always resell, their a popular item here and go quick.
