I have only 2000 kms on my New ST and have not noticed it. You have probably checked these out but anyhoo...

Rear suspension sagging too much, needs dialling up. Standard spring is pretty light weight, (I replaced mine) thus when under load the back ends sags, causing the chain to overtighten, thus clicking starts as sprockets are too loaded. A sign of this is a hot chain after a ride and also the chain stretching way too fast.

If it wasn't a single sided swingarm (sweet) I would say the chain is not running straight. Try and score a laser pointer, remove the chain gaurd and have a look to see if it is running true.
Lastly, replace the sprockets and chain.
