I had intermittent starting problems last year, on an 02 America. Sometimes it would spin the starter, at other times it would not. Didn't seem to be a problem. Battery showed correct voltage running and off. A local shop said it was my starter soleniod, located under the black cover. They ordered a solenoid but was sent a starter relay instead. The relay was $11 so I bought it anyway. On the way out, the mechanic asked if my solenoid arrived, told him the relay story. He said "dont' waste your money, definitely not the relay". I left and a few days later decided, what the heck, and installed the relay. I've not had a problem since. And that shop has yet to call and tell me my solenoid is in.... If you are fixing yourself, might want to gamble on the inexpensive relay.

I did have a loose battery cable this summer that caused flickering lights. Barely loose, but enough to create a problem. Tightened the cable and no problem since. I'm still on my OEM battery with 11,000 miles on my '02.null
