The Trident went because not enough people were buying it, pure and simple. The Speed Triple had the edge on performance and the Thunderbird and later the Thunderbird Sport had the edge on styling. The Legend was then introduced as the entry level Triumph. The 750 was never a big seller in any of the formats it was used in - Daytona, Speed Triple or Trident and was probably dropped because it wasn't worth making when so many people preferred the long stroke motor.

The Trophy 900 was dropped once the Sprint ST was established as a good tourer and the Trophy 1200 was dropped last year because it would not meet forthcoming emissions regulations - in the same way as alot of other bikes.
