I was up in Boston about a year ago & snapped a right side footpeg & no dealer in the area had one. However, I was in fact able to use the passenger peg as a temporary solution to get back to NYC. The pin IS smaller & there is no spring to keep it from folding up, but the pin head is just wide enough to work if you absolutely have to. I wouldn't advise riding very hard, but it is a viable "limp home" solution.
