Thanks for the reply. Everything on it was to original settings as in the Haynes manual (other than the cartridge oil filter and an oil cooler).
Probably will need a new barrel as already at +040.
Once we start stripping, if the exhaust valve seats are OK then leave them. Check for pinking.
