Have you disconnected the battery or run out of fuel?
Any little thing like this turns the light on. 3 heat cycles make it reset. Start the bike from cold, let it warm up, let it cool down, that's one heat cycle. It drove me nuts.
Check the oil level, check the coolant level. Turn the key on and make sure the oil pressure light is on. After the engine starts the oil pressure light should go out. I check that light every time I start the engine.
