My 01RS (made11/00) has allways started after what "sounds like" 3 or 4 spins. Hot / cold, didn't matter. Turn key on, wait a few seconds for fuel press. (you can here mine,Eeeeeeeeee) click starter, wrwrwrwr Brrrrrrr. Like Russ said, don't touch throtle. I've heard a couple of other Triumphs sound the same, thought maybe low geared starter. ?? JR
