Here in western Australia yeah - you have to do a year on a 250 or less be it a cb250n, a ts185 or a zx3r or a rgv250 :-D
Other parts of oZ , they have a power to weight ratio so older bike like say xj650, gxs400, are okay. a few manufacturer are no making some bikes restricted for this market .
after a year you are feel to buy what you like
