Having put in a lot of time on a V-Max and now a Rocket. I have to say the Vmax is a quicker bike. 20 years of go fasts for the Vmax and 2hrs at any tuning shop will yield 20more Hp. It has explosive acceration when v-boost open above 6000rpm. No rpm protection at all so motor will rev above redline at your own risk. I have seen 140mph with a pillion and 155mph flat on V-max. A good ride around town with good poser value. However small tank and not that comfortable around town. Good ground clearence but not matching cornering ability due to chassis shock combination. Lighter and taller than Rocket.
I still prefer the Rocket because will eat up the miles in alot more comfort than v-max and ownly a fraction slower. Can transform Rocket from single seater with classy looks to cruiser mode with pillion seat and windshield in 15 mins.
If I had enough money would own both for very different reasons but can't so the Rocket it is.
I would be tempted to enjoy Rocket and wait. V-max 20 years old and talk the Japs will reinvent V-max with bigger motor and cruiser handling. :???:
