There was a forum member (ToyStoreTom I think) that hooked-up an ODB-II scanner to his Rocket and was able to see basic protocol information.
Not sure which format he was using:
OBD-II, SAE J1850 for GM is VPW (Variable Pulse Width) Protocol
ODB-II, SAE J1850 for Ford is PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) Protocol
Chrysler is some other SAE spec. J1970 I think.

Try either GM or Ford scanner. Nothing will get damaged. If wrong protocol you will just get garbage on scanner. Correct protocol will give you readable code display where Triumph and SAE J1850 match.
