I put them in for a few reasons.

1. They are supposed to require less voltage because of the small diameter electrode. (my thinking was that less load on the coils might keep me from ever needing to replace one, knowing Triumph prices...probably a stupid reason I know)

2. They are supposed to start better. I haven't noticed that on mine.

3. They were only a dollar more than the 'Standard' dual ground plugs Triumph installed which if there is any truth to spark shrouding these would be the worst plug to have.

I opened the gaps on mine just a bit to .030 I have not noticed any real difference from stock, but they were basically the same price and I don't have to worry about changing them for quite a while. They are a bit of a pain to get at if thats all you're going to do.

A word of warning a lot of the plug charts I looked at on line were WRONG on the model of plug my bike came with! My bike has the VERY small 10mm version and many of the plug charts listed it as the older 12mm plugs.
