The gear ratio is close but you have to remember that 1 tooth in the front equals 3 teeth in the rear or real close. So 18/43 would be about the same as 19/46. Also, if you want quicker acceleration at the expense of losing a little top end speed you would remove teeth from the front or add teeth to rear.
I had a 94 FZR600 sport bike with stock 14/45 gearing. I went to a 520 chain and 14/47 gearing. That made the bike little snappier.
