I wear the Raptor and have no complaints about the waistband at all. The mesh is open enough that even in 90+ days in Virginia, I have no heat issues at speeds above 30. Sitting at a stop light is another matter.
The only place that really gets warm is where the back armour is, but I assume that is going to happen with any well protected jacket.
As for mesh pants, never worn em. I've got Draggin' Jeans, but in the summer they are brutal. Kevlar butt pad makes for swetty tush after a good ride.
