What is that ripple looking area toward the bottom of the jacket on the back?

I'm with you on the logo, but I'll take it over the elastic waist on the raptor. I tried one on at the dealer and thought it was perfect except for that waistband. I think the Rochester will suit me better.
Does anyone wear the mesh pants. I don't want to go crazy with gear, but I also want to keep my knees if I go over some day. Jeans are so hot in the South Florida sun.
