You must also connect an ammeter into the system.

Disconnect the fuse ,connect ammeter between the two wires.That is to say the ammeter will be in place of the fuse.
Start the engine you should show at least eight amps.
If you show very little amperage it indicates a bad rectifier, or possibly bad alternator rotor maybe even a poor ground at the rectifier.Seldom is it a bad stator but it is a posibility.
Yuo can show all of the volts you want but that does not indicate the system is charging the battery tou can have rising volts at rising speeds even with a internaly shortes stator. Volts will not charg a battery you must have sufficient amperage
