I used a 11mm offset (might be called a mirror mount). I think the 9mm wold be better, but had the 11 from another bike. I pulled one of the clip on mounting bolts, put the 11mm base over the hole, used a slightly longer bolt and works like a charm (even with the Genmar risers).
