Fantastic info everyone! I am restoring a wrecked 01' ST with 14K miles. I will look for these problems (and look for the aforementioned alternative front brake-pad options!).
In about 3 weeks you should see the reconstructed ST pics here. Anyone interested in a TFi box for 3 cylinder Triumphs such as the one you'll see installed on my 01' Triumph Sprint ST please contact www.dobeckperformance.com. I am about to feature an installation of a TFi box that slips between the CPU and the injectors with direct plug ins. As I understand the process the TFi box alters fuel richness a certain amount to compensate for K&N filters, more open exhausts, and a variety of other mods. From that point it lets the CPU do it's job as far as varying mixture when cold or at altitude etc, the difference being that it maintains the altered mixture points. Tell George Levings that radracr5 sent you. Look for my picto-install in a few weeks. Anyone had experience with the Race Tech front fork spring/dampening rod kits for the ST? Are the forks really that overly soft for a 220 lb rider?
