Just because something has been beaten to death doesn't speak to its credibility.
At least with motorcycle-only oils, you can have reasonable certainty of not getting additives you don't want. Some people use any old sludge and seemingly get away without damage, but Triumph do still urge keeping additives out. They research, design, build and warrant tens of thousands of engines a year, so guess who I'm a-gonna listen to.
