Jim, I guess that makes us both jiggered!

What do you suppose it means, seeing as how the service manual clearly mentions this component? Like I already said, I can find no place where one would connect the other end of this hose.

I was quite concerned, as it would seem other important parts of my PDI were omitted: kinked fuel line, left rear flasher disconnected under the rear panel, battery hold down not in place, and a coolant leak due to improper placement of a hose clamp on the bend of the radiator's bypass hose inlet.

The bike hasn't been for its first service yet. I'm not sure that I want to bring up these inconsistencies (to what avail?). I plan on doing most of my own maintenance and I'm inclined to just let this stuff fly and keep a very close eye on any work that I must have performed by the dealer.
