Argo cycles are quite well known (they are in the same state as me too). They sell a lot of salvage bikes like this and seem to be very honest about them. I would not be surprised at this being a salvage bike as if you total the cost of all the chipped and scratch items up (new parts from Triumph in the US) you would come to a significant proportion of the bike's worth. As Terry says they may have swapped some parts too.

All this being said you would need to 1. look very carefully with an expert eye (if you dont have one you could be buying hidden problems). 2. check into your state's rules for titling a salvage bike. Processes of inspection etc. are necessary. The resultant title will also say "rebuilt" or words to that effect, which will of course affect the resale value of the machine.

I think that some people are getting carried away with the bidding, it's getting close to an average ebay price for a 98/99 on a clean title. Personally I wouldn't want to pay more than 3000 for that machine. Keep looking and you will find a nice one for around $4000.
