I have never seen anything like that either. That being said the tank is dual lined and has to be so it doesnt spill in a wreck. That can be repaired but it is very unusual. It wouldn't be caused by the ethanol since it is dual lined.
My 1974 Corvette has a few cracks on it like that and it is caused bu the UV rays attacking the fiberglass. Not uncommon on a 36 year old machine but rare to unheard of with moden plastics. Ethanol is not new and has been in fuel for well over 10 years now.
