I changed one out once and remember it was a *****. Problem is it was so long ago I can't remember what I used. I know I didn't buy a different tool. I remember it wasn't the master cylinder that was my problem though. The lining on the pressure hose had come loose and was acting like a flapper valve and was refusing to release pressure so it pumped up pressure causing the brake to drag. It relieved itself after a short period of rest. I just have standard tools. Hopefully some one on the site has R&R'd one recently and see's your problem. Meanwhile I'd keep f------ with it.
