well, i can't say if this is going to count as a mod but, here it is.

when you fill up your tank from empty (wait for the idiot light), throw in a bottle of octane boost. yep, the whole thing. i have done it to several of my bikes, some give very noticeable results, others don't. anyway, i don't know if it does anything for performance, but i think it has at least helped the mileage on my last tank.

now the disclaimer. the stuff that they use in the octane boost (tuolene) basically amounts to paint thinner. now, the fuel is used to cool the windings on the fuel pump, and they have a varnish on them. so it is possible you could kill your fuel pump with this stuff. be careful with how much/often you run this stuff.
