Hey all,
This is my first post to the board here but I've been lurking for awhile now. A couple of months ago I picked up a 95 Trident 900 and I've put a few thousands miles on it since and I've noticed a few things that I need to take care of in regards to the bike. I've done some searching on the board and seen some of these covered (somewhat)..
Forks
I weigh about 275 pounds (out of the shower) and the stock springs on my Trident are begging for mercy. Racetech recommended 1.1 springs and I was wondering if that would make the front end a bit too harsh as this bike is about 90% commuting and about %10 weekend fun. I had also thought of installing cartridge emulators at the same time and the springs and some heavier fork oil. Any thoughts?
Another question that I've been thinking of is that is it possible to swap the forks from the same era Speed Triple to the Trident without a lot of hassle? I wouldn't mind doing that since it would give me the fully adjustable forks versus the stock ones if it's not that hard.
Exhaust
The stock pipes are getting a little ragged so I'm looking into replacing them. I want to keep the dual pipe setup because I prefer the looks of it. I've looked at the D&D (Too LOUD), Staintune (Too EXPENSIVE) and the Micron (Like the D&D from reports). I was wondering if you all had any other suggestions? I had thought of going with a set of universals from supertrapp but I'm not sure which ones would be a good application for my Trident (Kerker Performance Series, Megaphone Series, S/C Elite). Any ideas?
Panniers
I have a set of saddlebags on the bike now and I don't really like the fitment that much. What I want is a side of side panniers for the Trident that don't stick out too far and don't interfere with the passenger footpegs that much. I've been to the sprint manufacturing website and poked around. They seem to have a Kappa monorack (£69, Pic 33) for the Trident, is that the one I need or is it only for a top box? They also have just a Rack for (£47, Pic 32) that seems like it might be it. Do I just need to contact them to figure out which one will work?
Windscreens
Has anybody tried the LM1 style fly screen kit (£149, Pic 2) or others for the Trident? Any suggestions?
I'm also looking to a few other small things, like a corbin seat, K&N Filter kit, a Jet kit, LSI superbike handlebars and a few other cosmetic changes.
