I recommend using the Triumph "running in oil" for the first 500 or 1000 miles, then switching over to fully synthetic oil. As far as the centerstand goes, by all means get one. I don't have a bonneville, but I am guessing the centerstand is like that of the TBS- it will not drag in corners (the foot pegs will drag first) and makes chain maintenance and oil changes a breeze.
