Kat, How's the bike running now? I have an '07 America and it shifted like butter...very little noise. At around 3K miles it got "stuck" in 3rd gear... I got it un-stuck and drove with no problems till it happened again 1K miles later. Again... un-stuck with no problems. A 6K miles 3rd gear broke while getting on the highway. When they pulled the bike apart they said it was a faulty gear that was heating up due to friction and eventually failed. They replaced the gear up but the bike never shifted the same...always clunkly...never smooth...so they rebuilt the tranny again...same issue. Next they replaced the clutch...same issue. They told me I needed to "break it in"... 1K miles later...still very clunky...hard to downshift... had trouble getting it from Neutral to First Gear. The bike ended up in the shop for a total of 7 months

However, this last time...they got it! I'm currently on a trip from Omaha NE to Sacremento CA and she shifts like butter again! ...seems when she was rebuilt they set the clutch to "factory specs"....and FINALLY they decided to go outside of those specs and WAALAA! The owners of this family run dealership admitted they never rebuilt an America Transmission before...and basically worked with Triumph Proper via phone.
Ahh well...she's running GREAT now! Transmission wise... Lesson for me is.... learn how to work on my bike more! ...BUT...that level of service is gonna wait till the warranty expires...which Triumph extended for 12 months...which now works out as I'm headed to Iraq for a year this fall.
Will see Cali today! Have a GREAT Week!
