I try not ride above her ability but it is hard to go slow through a turn.
Then ride *behind* her. It not only limits you to her level without pushing her beyond her comfort to 'keep up' with what you think is moderate, it keeps the traffic off her tail while she's gaining confidence. That's what my husband did when I was learning to ride. (Well, that's what he did after my very first ride when he flew off into the distance and I skidded and laid it down on a nasty corner. By the time he came back, I had the bike righted and enough steam built up that I'm amazed he didn't just turn back around and floor it. Brave or foolish, you make the call. )
As far as the bike, that might be tricky. At the risk of sounding sexist (and I'm sure *someone* will assume I am) a lot of women riders I've met seem to feel terribly guilty if they dislike a bike chosen for them. Even if they hate it more than life itself, they won't admit it because they don't want to hurt someone's feelings. Or, if that's the only bike they've ridden, they might not even know. I didn't. I was riding an SV before my Legend and didn't really care for it. Too tall for me, too raked, it just felt unstable. If I hadn't gotten a different bike, I would probably be riding very little these days. And I would have just assumed I didn't like riding that much. But, lucky for me, Triumph used to have those wonderful ads that showcased their bikes and I fell in love with the Legend. And after an initial shock and disbelief on the part of my sportbike loving husband (who couldn't fathom what anyone saw in a standard), we started hunting around for one. So, maybe try taking her to wherever bikes congregate around there or bringing home some of the bikemags.

Anyway, my trip around the central coast this week got nixxed by a series of events and I'm depressed. (I'm even going to miss Ostrich Land.)
So where's this ride report to cheer me up?
