j98sprint is right on the mark. Triumph was re-introduced in the early 90's (1991 model year?), and the Trident 900 was one of its first models.
The T-Bird, Legend, Speed Triple followed, and yes, many of the parts were designed to be compatible, so that mass production of these bikes could be more efficient and cost effective.
I just bought a 1993 Trident 900 in mint condition. Will let you know what I think, as I pick it up tomorrow. See photos on the Trident Homepage.
