Hinckley,

I talked to Jerry at Ohlins, and to the guy at Traxxion Dynamics. Traxxion says they recommend the Penske over Ohlins now, that Penske's design results in better compliance, while still giving firm control. He recommends the double-adjustable Penske, which is about $180 less than the Ohlins.

I have no doubt that the Ohlins is great, but I might give the Penske a try.

Does your Ohlins have the hydraulic remote adjustment for preload, and if so, does it work well?

I have no experience with the Penske shock so I cannot comment. I'm sure it would be a great shock. What is "double adjustable"? I doubt that my arse would be able to tell the difference between the two. :-D

Besides, $180.00 is a sizable chunck of change that can be used for some other mod.

Yes, my Ohlins has the remote preload. It works great! It really comes in handy when the wife wants to ride along. Instead of getting out the brass drift and a hammer and spending 20 minutes trying to move a collar around, I just give the remote a half dozen turns and we're ready to go!

This is the model I have:

The only difference is the lower mount.
