When I got my Thruxton, It did not feel like it would wheelie very readily and on demand (due to its geometry). Boy was I wrong...
I wanted to try an on demand moving wheelie, not a wheelie from a stop. What I did is as I was cruising in first gear, I revved her up to about 5000 RPM (give or take, I just revved until I felt the first burst of torque), then I abruptly closed the throttle, and then cracked the throttle wide open. Her front end lifted up about 1 foot according to my buddy who was watching.
My buddy rides a Ducati Monster 900, and he is the one who taught me this technique (he does it all the time on his Duc). He has even been trying to convince me that I should gear down my Thrux for more explosive low end grunt around town. Who knows, I might do that, if it does not make my highway performance suffer.
Cool job on that power wheelie Dr English!
