I bought my 08 Bonnie Black in March of 08, the beginning of the selling season for bikes. My local dealer would not budge on the list price, so I called around and found a dealer an hour away that would give me $400 off list, plus he threw in a summer windshield at about $80 off. Considering the state of the economy, I would expect that you could find someone willing to negotiate on the price. My only suggestion is to call first and work out a deal over the phone, because they are much less flexible when you are in the showroom and they have inertia on their side. On the phone, they worry that if they don't motivate you to drop by, you may never show up. Also, they can't see your poker face. This tactic has worked for me when buying both bikes and cars -- I've even bought a car over the phone and signed the papers by fax.
