I have experience of both the Meta and Datatool. Much prefer the Meta and agree with Badger about the thing going off any time you so much as look at the bike.

I guess the Datatool is more of a deterrent, its louder and has the excellent movement sensor that gives increasing chirps as you move the bike when its on the stand (as in turn the bars, spin the back wheel).

If you are a weekend meddler you will get annoyed with the Datatool, but if security is a real prime concern I think its a better piece of kit.
