The temps have come down a bit lately, but it's not all that cold. I'm letting it warm up for a few minutes before I ride off but need to have a few miles at 40-50 mph before it quiets back down again.

The bike has a total of 1,800 miles on it and got it's last oil change September '07 at 600 miles (Triumph filter/Mobil 1) - first service.

I'm taking it in for a NYS inspection, oil change, and all-around checkout tomorrow before the warranty expires (January '09), but was hoping to get your thoughts in advance.

Let me know? I'm worried my baby might have a sticky valve but hoping I'm just overreacting.

Thanks...

It's probably nothing, aside from the fact that these air cooled engines generate more audible clicks and clacks than a contemporary water cooled engine. Sounds to me like a valve that may have more clearance between cam lobe and shim. My bike at 34,000 makes enough whirring and clicking sounds that I've come to consider it just part of the ride. BTW, the T100 sounds like a Caddy compared to my old R100GS with 116,000 miles on the clock.

However, since you're under warranty, and are concerned, here's what I'd do:
- I'd bring the noise to the attention of the dealer
- they'll probably say "it's nothing to worry about".
- have the dealer document your comment and their response on your bill so you have a record of it, just in case the noisey component (whatever it is) fails out of warranty.
At least this way, you'll have some sort of documentation showing (a) you expressed concern, (b) the dealer said the noise was not a problem.
