Unhappy st 1050 rear brake / bearing play

I have a 2006 st 1050 with 16k miles on clock. i recently noticed that the rear brake carrier (that the rear calliper is bolted to) has some play in it.

Any ideas please on how this can be fixed? It doesn't seem correct. Can I get access to this if the rear wheel is removed? Is it a bearing issue? Is it normal? Is it part of the Cush Drive? needing replacement?

Answers on a post card please, Regards......
