Just out of curiosity, why didn't you just use a clip style master link instead of taking a chance with the whole tack weld thing? I have been buying original Triumph chains for my '97 and just use the clip link. BTW, my owner's manual says (and this is what my Triumph dealer sells as the OE fitment) the original chain is a Regina, not DID. These come with both rivet and clip masters.
