I thought the wires were a bit too thin (Garmin Quest) for routing and attaching to the battery, so i simply 'piggy backed' them on the wires for the heated grip switch. Just find the live feed, ie. switch on your ignition and find the connector on the back of the switch that is live when the switch is in the off position. You can use one of these (the right size) to connect to the back of the switch.

No problems two years down the road...

Hope that helps, but if you do decide to connect directly to the battery make sure it is a very good connection and no bare wires! If they touch the frame - Ouch...
